In addition to working in general practice, Dr Edmondson has over 11 years experience in Botox, both therapeutic and cosmetic, and dermal collagen fillers, namely Juvederm.

Dr Edmondson will tailor each treatment to the specific individual while still maintaining a natural look. The focus is on inhibiting, preventing, and reversing the bodies aging process.

How Does It Work?

Botox can reduce the appearance of Crow’s feet, smooth frown lines between brows and horizontal forehead lines and even prevent wrinkles from forming. Botox can also be used to prevent excessive sweating under the arms or in the scalp, palms or soles of the feet. It will stop excessive sweating for 6-12 months.

What Does It Feel Like?

Tiny needles are used to inject minute amounts of Botox to the upper facial area if used for cosmetic purposes. It is generally quite painless, and no local anaesthetic cream is needed. Botox is the fastest growing cosmetic procedure today. The treatment is easy and the results are fantastic.

Dermal Fillers

What Is a Hyaluronan Filler, and Where Can it Be Used?

Hyaluronic acid is one of the natural substances in the dermis which has a hydroscopic function (draws and holds water in the skin), giving the volumizing effect. The injectible products are manufactured in the lab under sterile conditions from non-animal sources (synthetic).

It is ideal to plump up thin lips and diminish fine lines above the lip while still maintaining a natural appearance or filling those deep vertical glabellar frown lines (between the eyes) and nasolabial lines beside the mouth. It works well in conjunction with Botox, and is termed a Soft-Lift procedure.

Does it Hurt?

This procedure is very tolerable as the doctor will apply ice packs to first numb the area. Alternatively, one could use a local anaesthetic cream, to be applied 1/2 hour prior to the injections, to the areas to be injected, such as the lips, nasolabial folds, or glabella (forehead, between the eyebrows).

How Long Does the Effect of Hyaluronan Fillers Last?

The cosmetic effect is not permanent, but can last up to a year.
